| Description: |
| Story 1: | 2007. Tom Ferris, son of the original owners, lives in Madeira. He still owns this house for rent. It's where he grew up. He sold off the adjoining lot (corner of Amherst & Yale, 600 Yale) to pay his father's debts. His ancestors came out to this area with Benjamin Stites. He's responsible for the fact that the Columbia Pioneer Cemetery is kept up by the City of Cincinnti. He says his mother, Helen Ferris, started the Labor Day festival with 3 other women, Perky Ruck, Evelyn Robinson and one other. His mother was also a flower judge. Tom Ferris belonged to the Green Beetles which was a social club of guys. The Green Beetles metal piece now in the possession of the Terrace Park Historical Society was a drag tag to be put on a car. (Information from Tom) |
| Story 2: | Ben Castleman also grew up in this house and says," I will always treasure my memories of my life in the park". His mother married John Ferris in 1936 when Ben was 7 and his brother, Tom, was 1. Ben graduated from the Terrace Park School in 1950. He married his wife, Nancy, in 1970. He retired in 1985 and they moved to Bradenton, Florida. Nancy died in 2001. (more information with building survey) |
